Okay now I have to touch upon the cross-over aspects: If you haven't read HOSAB yet, stop reading now. The book is divided into 3 parts the second and third parts stand out, although their strength is from the growing plot rather than the actual writing. Tharion's perspective was also really well done, his emotions, his forlornness and internal battle with loyalty, consistently shaping the tone of his narration. I was physically acting up in excitement every time the narration perspective shifted to his characters. Speaking of Ruhn, he CARRIED this story without a doubt.

Where she shines is through her character driven plots, which was clearly apparent in the complex development of characters such as Cormac, Ithan, Baxian and Ruhn. Okay now for some thoughts:SJM's writing has improved over the years but I'd still consider this particular work's technical aspects decent but not phenomenal.
